MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SUMP PUMP AND EJECTOR PUMP
One of the most noticeable differences between a sump pump and an ejector pump is the presence of sewage. When an ejector pump fails it can cause raw sewage to enter the basement which can jeopardize your family's health. You can expect flooding when an ejector pump fails. However, sump pump failure can have more significant negative results. Sump pump failure can cause permanent flooding and water discoloration, and pipe damage.
Sump pumps must be regularly service to avoid any malfunction, including cleaning the pump and sump basin. Ejector pumps do not need regular maintenance, but have to be inspected as well. Although not required, it’s recommended to check periodically to make sure toilet paper, external objects and debris are not in the way of the sewer float and drains. The biggest reason for failure is debris caught on the float. Also, if the lid gets cracked, be sure to replace it as soon as possible as sewer gas is a health hazard.
